SHARKS ARE FEROCIOUS.
The Basking Shark, or Cetorhinus maximus, is the second largest fish in the ocean next to the whale shark (Third if you're counting Nessie).
It is from the phylum Cordata. To be part of this phylum, at some time in their life cycle they must have each of the following:
a notochord
pharyngeal slits
a hollow dorsal nerve cord
an endostyle
post-anal tail
I might have lied before when I said that this shark was ferocious. Basking sharks are very slow moving, and are filter feeders. He's still pretty cool though.
It is found in all the world's temperate oceans.
The Basking shark is ovoviviparous, which means that they develop within eggs that remain within the mother's body up until they hatch or are about to hatch
