I think this is where Kabuto came from.

Pretty sure.  --------->

See the resemblance?

I do.

The Horseshoe Crab's scientific name is Limulus polyphemus.

Although it is called a crab, the Horseshoe crab is more closely related with ticks, scorpions and spiders.

It is most commonly found in the Gulf of Mexico,
and waters off the eastern coast of North America. They have been found in oceans, and estuaries, as well as on beaches.

It is from the phylum Arthropoda. Arthropods
are characterized by their jointed limbs. They also have open circulatory systems, and body cavaties. They are invertebrates with segmented bodies.

This crab has 10 eyes, one pair of small pincers that are used to move food towards the mouth. It has ten walking legs, eight with claws. The mouth is in between the legs.

Horseshoe Crabs reproduce sexually. Adult males arrive on the beaches a few weeks before the females, and begin patrolling the near-shore waters for the females. When the females arrive, they release a pheromone into the water, When the females are ready, they will deposit 5-7 clumps of 2000-4000 eggs each. She will repeat this process several times during the mating season, and will probably end up laying about 90,000 eggs. However, only ten or less of these eggs will survive to adulthood.

The crabs feed on mollusks, annelid worms, other benthic invertebrates, and bits of fish. It doesn't have jaws, so it grinds up the food with bristles on its legs.
